Karol Hilker

Karol received a BFA in Fine Arts and a BS in Art Education from the University of TN, Knoxville.

She has participated in group shows, had one woman shows and won first place for juried shows in the states of CA, AR,TN, KY, VA and IL. Her art work and murals are in private homes and businesses in 21 states.

Karol enjoys several ways of creating. She does plain air, live event painting, mixed media, and hand painted purses.

Her mixed media work features people in different stages of interaction with life, themselves and others. She uses oils, acrylic, and watercolor, wires and other objects as the painting needs. Many times threads and silver or brass wires are woven around elements in the work. In these mixed media paintings Karol is interested in showing the demands of life on us through the painting's creation.

Her landscapes and paintings of people are created plain air and in the studio. She enjoys pops of color along side colors found in nature. Her marks and layers create movement found in nature and people.

On this site you will see many, but not all of Karol's work. She is creating everyday so there are always new developments because she would rather be in the studio than on the computer!
